Accreditation Renewed at Fulton County Area Technology Center

Keeping up with today’s standards, Fulton County Area Technology Center (Hickman, KY) has renewed the NIMS Accreditation of their Machine Tool Technology Program as of Friday, May 10, 2013.  This is the school’s second time establishing itself as a NIMS-Accredited institution, as it first set this benchmark in 2006.  NIMS applauds Fulton County ATC for its continued commitment to meeting National Industry Standards for metalworking skills training.

In April 2013, NIMS Evaluator Terry Babb (Apextool & Mfg., Inc.) conducted a rigorous On-Site Evaluation at the facility in Hickman.  Highly complementary of the program, in his evaluation Babb noted that the program is on the right track and that students are ready to enter the workplace with an outstanding number of NIMS credentials in their pockets.  He gave the program very high ratings in all areas of evaluation, with top ratings given in the areas of Program Purpose and Student Credentials.

This accreditation is in Level I Machining Skills, with an emphasis on:

  •  Measurement, Materials & Safety
  •  Job Planning, Benchwork, & Layout
  •  Milling I (manual)
  •  Turning Operations: Turning Between Centers

Congratulations to everyone involved in this accreditation renewal, especially MTT Instructor Gregory (Dallas) Pruitt for coordinating the efforts of the faculty and staff in meeting the requirements for renewal.  Special thanks also to NIMS evaluator Terry Babb for conducting the on-site visit!   To learn more about this program, please contact Mr. Pruitt by email or by phone at (270) 236-2517.
