Accreditation Renewed at Lorain County Joint Vocational School

Keeping up with today’s standards, Lorain County Joint Vocational School (Oberlin, OH) has renewed the NIMS Accreditation of their High School Precision Machining Technology Program, as well as the Adult Career Center's Manufacturing Technologies Program as of Wednesday, April 10, 2013.  This is the school’s third time establishing itself as a NIMS-Accredited institution , as it set this benchmark first in 2001.  NIMS applauds Lorain County JVS for its continued commitment to meeting National Industry Standards for metalworking skills training.

In March 2013, NIMS Evaluator David Burns (Duffin Manufacturing Co.) conducted a rigorous On-Site Evaluation at the facility in Lorain County, which is shared by both the high school and adult programs.  Highly complementary of the program, in his evaluation Burns noted the program's well defined goals, that the school has assembled an advisory committee that is nicely representative of area employers, their supportive administration, and excellent instructional staff - John Green and Ralph Bentley.  He also gave the program very high ratings in several areas of evaluation, including Program Purpose, Equipment/Tooling/Measuring Devices, Program Features, Administration Support, Instructional Staff, and Advisory Committee Participation. This accreditation is in Level I Machining Skills, with an emphasis on:

  •   Measurement, Materials & Safety
  •   Job Planning, Benchwork, & Layout
  •   Milling I (manual)
  •   Grinding I
  •   Turning Operations: Turning Chucking
  •   Turning Operations: Turning Between Centers

Congratulations to everyone involved in this accreditation renewal, especially Instructors John Green, Ralph Bentley, and Deputy Superintendent Jerry Pavlik for their time and effort!  Special thanks also to NIMS evaluator David Burns for conducting the on-site visit!  To learn more about this program, please contact Instructor John Green or Instructor Ralph Bentley by email or by phone at (440) 774-1051.
