Accreditation Renewed at York Technical College - Rock Hill, SC

Keeping up with today’s industry skills standards, the Machine Tool Technology Program at York Technical College (Rock Hill, SC) has renewed its NIMS Accreditation as of Wednesday, May 9, 2012.  This is the second NIMS-Accreditation of York Tech's program, as it first received the title in January 2006.  NIMS applauds this program for demonstrating its commitment to meeting NIMS National Industry Standards within its metalworking training.

On Thursday, April 26, 2012, NIMS Evaluator and Team Leader Joan Cook (of RICOWI, Inc. in Clinton, OH) conducted a rigorous On-Site Evaluation at York Tech's machine tool facility and was highly complementary of the program.  Her final evaluation report praised the program's "outstanding facilities," the "extensive support" received from the college administration, and the highly qualified instructional staff - all of whom hold or are working towards earning NIMS credentials in the areas covered by the program curriculum.  Joan was also very pleased with the program's support from local industry, both in terms of measuring and tooling contributions and advisory committee participation, noting the program's success in preparing students for industry.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this accreditation renewal, especially York Technical College's Department Chair and Instructor Michael McClain!  Special thanks to Joan Cook for conducting the on-site visit!
