Secretary Jane Oates to Summit: Committed to Apprenticeship and Manufacturing

Assistant Secretary Jane Oates made it clear to the participants convened at the Manufacturing Summit, in Washington on Tuesday, October 26, that the Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration is committed to advancing apprenticeship and supporting the nation’s manufacturing industry. 

The remarks by Secretary Oates highlighted a day long session that focused on best practices in recruiting and training the nation’s manufacturing workforce.  The Summit was co-sponsored by NIMS in partnership with the Swiss Embassy.  Secretary Oates spoke of her personal experiences in witnessing the change in manufacturing and its workforce while stating the administration’s support.  She noted that support for apprenticeship is front and center in the Department of Labor.
