Accreditation Renewed at Central Carolina Technical College

Keeping up with today’s industry skills standards, Central Carolina Technical College (Sumter, SC) has renewed the NIMS Accreditation of its Machine Tool Technology Program as of Thursday, December 6, 2012.  This is the program’s second time establishing itself as a NIMS-Accredited program, as it set this benchmark first in 2007.  NIMS applauds the college for its continued commitment to meeting NIMS National Industry Standards within its metalworking training.

Earlier this year NIMS Evaluator Mike Davis (Davidson County Community College) conducted a rigorous On-Site Evaluation at Central Carolina's machine shop and was highly complementary of the program.  In his evaluation Mr. Davis gave the program very high ratings in all areas of evaluation, which include Program Purpose, Program Features, Student Credentialing, and Advisory Committee involvement.

This accreditation is in Level I Machining Skills, with an emphasis on:

  • Measurement, Materials & Safety
  • Job Planning, Benchwork, & Layout
  • Milling I (manual)
  • Grinding I
  • Drill Press I
  • Turning Operations: Turning Between Centers
  • Turning Operations: Chucking Skills

Congratulations to everyone involved in this accreditation renewal, especially Dean of Industrial & Engineering Technology Brent Russell and Instructor Ladell (Eddie) Humphries for of their effort!  Special thanks also to Mike Davis for conducting the on-site visit!
