Job Description: BIR Training Center is a private, for-profit, nationally accredited postsecondary institution for technical, business, and language learning. Established in 1993, BIR Training Center educates more than 1,200 students annually at three Chicago campuses. A diverse blend of domestic and international students is enrolled at BIR Training Center vocational and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs. BIR Training Center is accepting applications for the position of CNC Program Coordinator. The full time position is critical to the development and success of BIR CNC program. The program coordinator works closely with all other departments in the school. Main Duties and Responsibilities Oversee CNC Training Shop operations; manage tools and educational materials inventory; manage upkeep of the CNC machines and equipment Manage communication with students, work on student retention, and provide advice on academic progress, career path; evaluate students’ request for credits based on previous work experience Participate in the development of the CNC program in order to keep it competitive; prepare materials needed for class; standardize drills, exercises and content; suggest, evaluate and provide input into CNC class scheduling Work closely with CNC faculty to keep communication lines open; conduct faculty observations, run class surveys, and evaluate the feedback and performance of instructors; create events and networking opportunities; participate in faculty assignments, skills evaluation and hiring Teach career development classes; provide classroom and hands-on instructions when needed; run and manage substitute skills list Create new and maintain existing partnerships with local companies in order to create awareness of BIR brand, prospective for workplace training, and employment opportunities for BIR graduates; plan and organize job fairs and career events; partner with providers of training materials, software packages, and industry certifications. Proactively participate in open houses, outreach events, and marketing campaigns; cross-train BIR staff on CNC programs and advances and development in the field; assist with content development for presentation materials and the web Organize and participate in job fairs and other career events; solicit job openings from employers Requirements 4-yr degree 4+ years of progressive experience in computerized manufacturing environment Good communication skills Microsoft Office competency Independent thinker, self-starter, motivated individual capable of outreach to students and industry Desired qualifications Workplace training exposure Familiarity with workforce training or development Teaching experience a plus Experience with CAM systems Exposure to production environment Working at BIR BIR Training Center provides challenging environment and opportunities for professional growth.
