Job Description: Job Summary: The Supervisor of the Machine Shop is responsible for the daily and long-term supervision of all second-shift Machine Shop employees. Must maintain a thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment. Directs the activities of the machine shop during second-shift operation in an efficient manner for the desired quality and quantity of work, complying with all safety, policy, and housekeeping standards. Responsibilities: • Full supervision of employees including but not limited to recommending and communicating of performance appraisals, pay increases, work schedules, training plans, disciplinary action, and other business information. • Responsible for reviewing and approving individual employee work schedules and time cards. Also recommends overtime schedules and ensures appropriate staffing for overtime. • Responsible for emphasize and upholding Busch safety policies and practices including investigating and preparing accident reports when necessary. • Involved in interviewing and selecting new employees as well as administering their training plans. • Plans and coordinates work center schedules and manpower requirements to ensure timely completion of shop orders to start and completion dates at the highest possible quality standards. Such planning might require selecting alternate manufacturing methods for specific situations. • Reviews and ensure the accuracy of labor sheets reported against daily shop orders. • Assists Engineering in machine layout proposals. • Reviews process sheets (Product Change Requests) and floor control of process sheets. • Help and, as possible, leads problem resolution and troubleshooting with machinery, tooling, and processes. • Assures that machinery, equipment, and facilities are clean and properly maintained for efficient production. • Stops production to ensure safety, quality, and productivity (in priority) for items such as out of specification parts, castings, inaccurate gauging, or machine-related issues. • Willingness and/or ability to operate, as needed, CNC machinery periodically to support workload fluctuations. Requirements: • Minimum of three years relevant management experience in a dynamic manufacturing setting. • Requirement – background demands a high quality mindset and product • Requirement – background includes a customer oriented deliverable • Strong preference - experience with machining of metal parts. • Strong preference - experience with CNC and PLC controls and programming. • Demonstrated leadership in a production oriented environment. • Exhibits personal discipline / operates in an organized & structure approach. • Solid knowledge of technical drawings, machining process, and CAD / CAM skills. • Solid computer skills using MS Office Suite and other software programs. • Solid written and verbal communication skills. • Must be able to work occasional off-hours. Education: • High school graduate. Prefer a college degree in a technical or management discipline.
