Qualifications: High school diploma, machinist journeyman certificate, and ten years of experience in the machining field required. Must have an understanding of common threads, tools, speeds and feeds, work-holding and shop practices. Competency in shop math including trigonometry and application of machine shop formulas is a must. Associate degree in the teaching field preferred. Prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level preferred. Ability to use instructional technologies required. Excellent oral and written communications skills required. Must be willing to become NIMS (National Institute of Metalworking Skills), certified in manual and CNC machining, and teach a combination of day, evening, weekend, and online classes.
Job Description: Seeking full-time (9-month) faculty member to teach all aspects of machining, including usage of conventional lathes and mills, surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, inspection procedures, blueprint reading, CNC machine tool setup and operation, G-code programming by hand and off-line programming with CAM package. Involves classroom and laboratory instruction. Responsible for ordering equipment & supplies and routine lab maintenance. Additional responsibilities include student advising, registration assistance, input on curriculum and program development and revision, review of instructional materials, program assessment, and service on division and college committees.
