Experience and understanding of Quality Management Systems Ability to use a variety of hand tools, machine tools, and precision measuring instruments required. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
Job Description: Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, indicating vices; tramming heads. Perform milling operations such as drilling, tapping, boring, broaching, and conventional milling and lathe work using various engine lathes including but not limited to horizontal and vertical mills and horizontal boring mills. Independently set-up, adjust, and operate Horizontal Boring mills to perform diversified progressive multi-tooled machining operations of large and expensive work pieces. Perform operations such as turning, boring, and facing. Responsible for set-up, operation, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements holding close tolerances and maximum efficiencies. Studies and interprets drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements. Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs. Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to blueprint standards. Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
