What are Credentialing Achievement Records (CARs)?

The CAR contains a series of hands-on skill checks through which a candidate demonstrates that he or she possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the credentials being pursued.

What is the cost to test?

No registration fee is charged to an organization that hosts testing, nor to its employees who participate in administering the process. NIMS fees apply only to those who wish to test for credentials.

What is the difference between credentialing and accreditation?

Credentials are a third-party validation of a person’s skills. Accreditation is a third-party validation of a training program as a whole.

What is the Inspector credential?

The Inspector credential validates knowledge of GDT and general measurement & inspection. Individuals who earn this credential will be able to inspect their students’ parts for performance validation in earning NIMS credentials.
