What is the difference between credentialing and accreditation?

Credentials are a third-party validation of a person’s skills. Accreditation is a third-party validation of a training program as a whole.

What is the Inspector credential?

The Inspector credential validates knowledge of GDT and general measurement & inspection. Individuals who earn this credential will be able to inspect their students’ parts for performance validation in earning NIMS credentials. What is the “Certificate of Special Merit?”

An award to any candidate who earns seven or more NIMS credentials. Those who believe they may qualify should contact NIMS.

Who is an account administrator?

An account administrator is the employee overseeing registration, payment, and proctor/evaluator assignments at the organization.

Who is an evaluator?

An evaluator is the individual qualified to assess the performance of a candidate. Anyone who used to sign off on paper affidavits should now have an evaluator account with NIMS.

Who is eligible to earn NIMS credentials?

Anyone, anywhere. As long candidates have access to the appropriate equipment and personnel in order to complete the performance and theory assessments.
