Credentials

Each NIMS credential represents a collection of skills and knowledge, and a person that earns one has demonstrated competency in that occupational area. As that person earns more of these stackable credentials, they show that they have an array of skills that have been verified against an industry-written standard.

Use the filters below to browse through the available credentials by industry or skills level, or use the search bar to find a particular credential. Click on a credential name to find the competencies it covers, as well as all the related resources, including the performance assessment.

NIMS is in the process of converting credentials to align with the new Smart Standards format. Some credentials do not currently map to a job role, and will remain available in their classic form with no changes to content. Read more about these classic credentials and request access to related materials.
