Prerequisites for Accreditation

Checklist towards Accreditation

• Review the applicable skill standards.
• Review the NIMS credentials and the credentialing process.
• Decide which credentialing modules are applicable.
• Review the acceditation policies.
• Review the standards and credentials with Advisory Committee to engage the committee with this process.
• Review a sample Self Study with Advisory Committee and administration.
• Apply for a Self Study.
• Determine what curriculum changes are necessary to incorporate the skill standards and implement them.
• Establish a MET-TEC.  Policies  Registration
• Register exam sponsor(s) and proctor(s) on-line.
• Submit a list of tooling and equipment needed (if any) to administration.
• Bring the facility up to OSHA and EPA standards, if needed.
• Correct any deficiencies in the facility.
• Have instructors earn credentials and start trainees in the credentialing process.
• Complete and submit the Self-Study.
• Schedule the NIMS On-Site Evaluation audit.
• Become ACCREDITED!!
